Build the Culture of Life One Woman at a Time

"The mutual gift of the person in marriage opens to the gift of a new life. The woman discovers herself through a sincere gift of self.” Mulieris Dignitatem, 1988.

Does it seem you have given and given until you are worn out? Do you worry it is not enough? Do you look around and wonder about the world we have inherited – commitment free sex, abortion, a rampant divorce rate? Is this all there is?

Now Ponder the Alternative: The Church has a different vision, a vision of respect – for women, for the family, for society, for the unborn - for LIFE.

The California Catholic Women's Forum, CCWF, aims to "Build the Culture of Life One Woman at a Time". We do this by exploring what St. Edith Stein calls "Authentic Feminism", a feminism based on the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope John Paul II eloquently summarized these teachings in his Apostolic letter Mulieris Dignitatem.

In each forum the first speaker clarifies the Pope's thoughts and the second speaker gets into the nuts and bolts of application. This is followed by lunch with a guided Q & A. The first forum explored the concept of "complementarity"; the term "feminine genius" was unpacked in the second forum. CDs of these forums are available for donation from our website.

Our third forum, Saturday, April 21st explores the feminine genius in more detail - as the bearer and nurturer of new life. Learn who you are and what your children can be.

Keynote speaker Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse has a forward-looking, pro-family dream and brings a unique voice to discussions of love, marriage, sexuality, and family. An econo mist for 15 years, the devastating experience of infertility brought her to her knees and back to the Church of her working-class roots. She was one of the few Americans invited to lecture at the 5th Annual Meeting of Families, convened in Valencia, Spain, July, 2006 by the Pontifical Council on the Family. Author of Love and Economics: Why the Laissez-Faire Family Doesn't Work, and Smart Sex : Finding Life-Long Love in a Hookup World. Fr. James Schall, SJ calls her mind one of the best, on a par with C.S. Lewis, Peter Kreeftand others. Her powerful presentations combine high quality information from the social sciences, the riches of traditional Catholic teaching and her own personal faith journey.

Martha McRoskey debuts in this conference, bringing practical experience as a wife of 26 years and mother of 7 ranging in age from 10 to 24. Mrs. McRoskey attended Santa Clara University and now lives in the San Diego area. She developed a reputation as a go-to person for tips on raising kids, and her advice is sound, inspiring, and based on solid Catholic principles. Her expertise includes issues of college age students, the MySpace world of teens, as well as the busy lives of elementary students. She is the founder of Parents in Prayer, a prayer ministry for Catholic schools in the San Diego area.

COME! Learn what it means to be a woman in the 21st Century! Learn the Church’s vision for women and families, along with tips on how to live it. Open to all, married, single; man, woman - this message of life is seared into the heart of every woman. The only requirement is an inquiring mind and a thirst for Truth.

Saturday, April 21, 8:30 - 1:00 w/lunch, at the Holiday Inn San Jose, formerly the Hyatt San Jose. Bring your daughter, bring your mother, bring a friend. Visit www.ccwf.org for details. See you there!
