Rediscovering The Family In A Technological Age: Bioethical Challenges

Our distinguished panel from the National Center for Bioethics and the Respect Life Coordinator from the Archdiocese of San Francisco will address real life issues in our contemporary life. Discussion and information will focus on Natural Law, scientific data and the effects on human life.

Description of this presentation: The family, the root of society, is faced with physical, spiritual and psychosocial dilemmas in our modern world. Together we will compare and contrast Natural Law with current practices and available technology.

This course will provide an evidence-based approach to the link between abortion and breast cancer. The connection between this and other controversies surrounding abortion will be addressed.   An Introduction to Natural Procreative Technology will also be presented, using the Creighton Model of Fertility Care System (CrMS). The participants will explore the menstrual and fertility cycles, identifying the corresponding biological health markers. More information

August 9, 2008 HUMANAE VITAE: Cornerstone of the Culture of Life

Culturally conditioned views of human sexuality influence behavior and subsequent health care outcomes. New and emerging reproductive technologies reframe the connection between intercourse and pregnancy, and affect the marital relationship. This seminar is designed to give nurses the understanding of various views of sexuality and how these views profoundly affect sexual health, marital relationships, and the pursuit or avoidance of fertility. Biotechnology brings great hope for healthcare but it must remain attached to an ethical vision. This forum will include an historical perspective and scientific successes and dilemmas of biotechnical practices as it relates to the health care professional.
